RSO Controls The Firing Line

During AEDA Range Live Fire, the designated AEDA instructor / Range Safety Officer controls the firing line. All students and observers must follow instructor / RSO commands.

Double Tap “STOP SHOOTING” Guideline

All shooting must immediately STOP when a train passes the range. Follow instructor / RSO commands before resuming fire.

Universal Firearms Safety Rules

ALL FIREARMS SAFETY RULES MUST BE FOLLOWED.

1. Treat all guns as if they are always loaded.
2. Never let the muzzle point at anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot.
4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

AEDA-Approved Calibers

Students participating in AEDA Range Live Fire may bring one personally owned handgun and one compatible magazine in one of the following calibers:

• 9mm
• .40 S&W
• .45 ACP
• .38 Special
• .357 Magnum
• .380 ACP
• .22 LR

Please do not bring rifles, shotguns or unusually loud handguns to this Training Day.

Ammunition Requirements

Using an AEDA firearm? AEDA provides the appropriate ammunition.

Using your own firearm? You provide the appropriate approved ammunition. AEDA-provided ammunition is not used in personally owned firearms.

If you choose to train with your personally owned handgun, you must bring:

• At least 1 box of 50 rounds
• The correct caliber for your handgun
• Factory-new, commercially manufactured ammunition only
• No remanufactured ammunition
• No reloaded ammunition

Eye and Ear Protection

Students participating in Range Live Fire must have appropriate eye and hearing protection.

Don’t have your own? The Double Tap facility fee includes eye and ear protection for your range session.

Safety Requirements

DO NOT arrive with a loaded handgun.

Do not LOAD and MAKE READY until instructed to do so by the Range Safety Officer.

• Your handgun must arrive unloaded and secured in an appropriate case or container.
• Do not handle, display, uncase or manipulate your handgun in the classroom or range facility unless specifically directed by an instructor or Range Safety Officer.
• Magazines must remain unloaded until you are on the firing line and instructed to load.
• Personally owned handguns are subject to instructor inspection before being approved for training use.
• Follow all commands given by the instructor and Range Safety Officer.
• Firearms may only be loaded and fired at the designated firing line and when instructed to do so.
